Lord of the Rings returns

Amazon is set to move production of its multi-million pound Lord of the Rings TV series to the UK from New Zealand. It’s expected to be one of the most expensive TV shows in history; the first series cost £336.5m to make and there are 4 more in the pipeline. The company says the move is part of its plan to expand its production space in the UK.

Hacker returns loot

A “white hat” hacker who stole £440m from a cryptocurrency platform has now returned most of the looted digital currency. It was one of the biggest ever crypto heist and targeted a little-known platform called Poly Network. It says the attack came from an ethical hacker, who generally aim to expose weaknesses in a system’s security.

Vacancies are rising sharply across the UK, with 1.7 million job ads posted in the first week of August. Most in demand? Photographers and camera operators, which saw a 19% rise in ads. You’re also in demand if you’re an insurance underwriter, an agricultural worker, or a plasterer.
